William Taylor Ray Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 19, 1945, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, he was the cherished son of the late Irene and William Taylor Ray Sr.
Bill lived a life full of creativity, passion, and dedication. He was a talented architect whose work reflected both skill and imagination. Beyond his profession, he embraced many hobbies and interests that brought him joy and connected him with others. He had a lifelong love for model trains, Star Wars, and all things science fiction, often collecting figurines that showcased his enthusiasm. A gifted photographer and craftsman, Bill enjoyed furniture building, cooking, and sharing his creations with those he loved. His famous homemade lemonade and “world-renowned” Tang were family favorites that will never be forgotten.
A devoted member of Life Changing Fellowship, Bill found strength and community in his faith. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched everyone he met, leaving behind countless cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Betty Jean Ray.
Those left to cherish DollaBill’s memory are his children, William Taylor “BT” Ray III, Gregory “Greg” Ray, April Scott (Anthony), Minister Johnny Smith, Sherry Ashley, Evangela “Vangie” Ashley, Airman Lateefah Daniels, Dalila “Koya” Ray, and Japera Ray, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bill’s son-in-law, Anthony; grandsons, Eric, Michael, and Carter Daniels; Brother Glen Moore, and the Amedisys Family.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Ray will be held at 12:00PM, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home with a memorial gathering one hour prior to the service.
The care of William “Bill” Taylor Ray Jr., and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home.
