Obituary

Sammie Roberta McPeak, affectionately known as Roberta to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Spring Hill, Tennessee, at the age of 89. Born on July 25, 1936, in the close-knit community of Hampshire, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of Sam and Annie Johnson Patton. Her early years were spent in Maury County, surrounded by family and friends who would deeply influence the compassionate, steadfast woman she became.

Roberta attended school in both Hampshire and Spring Hill, Tennessee. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for her lifelong devotion to her family and community. She built a life guided by faith and integrity, becoming a valued and faithful member of the Beech Grove Church of Christ—a fellowship that provided her with spiritual encouragement and enduring friendships throughout her life.

As a homemaker, Roberta dedicated herself entirely to the well-being and care of her family. She offered her love with quiet strength, and her home was always open to those in need of comfort and kindness. Alongside her beloved husband, Edward McPeak, Roberta resided at The Experiment Station in Spring Hill until Edward’s retirement in 1989, a period marked by steadfast partnership and devotion to each other. Following retirement, their life together continued to flourish as they embraced new chapters in a town they both treasured.

In addition to her parents, Sam and Annie Patton, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward McPeak; her loving daughter, Anita Joyce Dudley; her cherished grandson, Nickolas Dudley; brothers James Patton, William Patton, and two infant brothers; and her beloved sister, Juanita Inman Marlin. Each of them held a permanent place in her heart, and Roberta’s legacy is forever linked to the joyous and challenging moments they shared.

Roberta’s generous spirit and the warmth of her presence will be deeply missed by those who survive her. She is lovingly remembered by her son-in-law, Tommy Dudley, who remained close to her throughout the years. Her story continues in the lives of her nephews Kenny Inman, Bobby (Andrea) Inman, Mike (Tammy) Patton, and Ricky (Shelia) Patton; her nieces Carol (Terry) Anderson; as well as her dear friend Joann Pullum. Each was touched by her unwavering kindness, gentle wisdom, and the quiet dignity with which she faced life’s many turns.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roberta’s life and honor her memory on July 2, 2026. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Spring Hill Memorial Park, Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 5239 Main St., Spring Hill, TN 37174. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with Charles Hardison officiating. Burial will take place at 11:30 AM at Williamson Memorial Gardens, 3009 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN 37064.

Active Pallbearers: Kenny and Bobby Inman, Mike and Ricky Patton, Ricky McPeak, Randy Fox, and Mark Rector.
