Mary Gleason

June 29, 1925 — October 1, 2019

Mary Elizabeth Gleason, age 94 of Franklin, TN passed away on October 1, 2019. Mary was born in Versailles, KY to the late Herman Darnell and Nola Beihn Darnell. Mary was raised on a small farm in Little Germany in Woodford County, Kentucky. She attended high school in Versailles, Kentucky and graduated at age 16 in 1942. She then attended Miss Stella Shaw's business school in Frankfort, Kentucky. Her first job was at Labrot and Graham Distillery. In April of 1948, she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and was confined to bed for 15 months with an artificial pneumothorax of her left lung. In 1960, she married Fred Gleason. She had various jobs during their marriage. In 1965, she had their only child, Alan Ray Gleason. In 1978, they moved to Mayville/Portland ND. A few years after her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's they moved to Frankfort, KY. After the death of her husband, she moved to Franklin, TN to live near her son's family. Nothing was more important to Mary than her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Our world is a better place because God put her here. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gleason and brothers, Herman Lee Darnell and Shirley Ray. She leaves behind a son, Alan (Denise) Gleason; sister, Doris "Doll" Snow; grandchildren, Nicole and Luke Gleason. A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:00pm on October 19, 2019 at the Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, KY.
