Macy Bramlet

August 15, 1921 — August 13, 2019

Macy Bramlet was born on August 15, 1921, to the late Ezekiel and Luvel (Ellington) Blanden in Anderson, South Carolina. Macy was the oldest daughter born to this proud family unit.
Ezekiel and Luvel moved their family to Hull, Florida in the 1930's then to Arcadia, Florida in 1938. They were determined to provide a better quality of life for their family.
Macy attended Smith-Brown School in Arcadia, FL. She was a cheerful student and displayed a love for learning.
Macy met the love of her life, Harden Bramlet and they were united in marriage in 1940 in Arcadia, Florida by Judge Lewis Edward Purvis. She was a devoted wife. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, Arcadia, Florida.
Macy was employed as an Office Cleaner in downtown Philadelphia while her husband, Harden was a boilermaker. Macy was a union representative for SEIU Local 32BJ, District 36 for 20 years. She was fair and direct with management and union members while performing her union duties.
She enjoyed traveling with one of her nephews and his wife, Lee Ernest and Francine D. Blanden. They reside in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Her first airline travel experience occurred on December 5, 2016, via American Airlines from Philadelphia, PA to Cleveland, OH.
Macy Blanden-Bramlet transitioned to eternal life on August 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harden Bramlet, her son, Sherman Blanden; her parents: Ezekiel and Luvel (Ellington) Blanden, six brothers: Joseph, Nathaniel, Theodore, Isiah, Ezekiel, and James Blanden and one sister: Zettie Williams. Macy also leaves to cherish her memory her grandson, Sherman Blanden, JR and a host of relatives and friends.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Doretha Vivian Roddy-Blanden Scholarship fund made payable to: St John Missionary Baptist Church, 208 Gordon Street, Arcadia, FL 34266. Please include notation for DVRB Memorial Scholarship.
