Leonard Tidwell

Mr. Leonard Douglas Tidwell, age 75, of Spring Hill, TN, passed away January 12, 2016 at Alive Hospice.
Leonard graduated from Franklin High School in 1958. Served in the United States Navy 1958-1962. Attended San Diego Community College, received his BS and MS in Chemistry from MTSU. Earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University. Leonard served as a minister at many churches of Christ, as well as taught school for several years in Maury County schools, including Hampshire, Mt. Pleasant and Spring Hill and also at Columbia State Community College. He was employed for many years in the chemical industry for several different companies, including Mobil, Monsanto, Velsicol, Cutter Laboratories and PME. He was a Metallurgist at Saturn Corp. and retired in 2003.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Juanita Parker Tidwell.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Faye Derryberry Tidwell; sons, Leonard Douglas "Doug" Tidwell, II & Thomas Edward "Tommy" (Carmen) Tidwell; daughters, Lorita Faye "Rita" Tidwell (Keith) Bradley & Judeth Faye Tidwell (Phillip) Staggs; grandchildren, Lily Castle Tidwell, Loraine Olivia & William Harley Bradley, Philip Joshua, William Caleb & Leonard Gabriel Staggs, Kyle William, Dillon Clay & Jacob Randel Tidwell; great granddaughter, Annabelle Grace Staggs; brother, Richard Albert (Sarah) Tidwell and sister, Mary Loretta Tidwell (Charles) Nash.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, David Thomley officiating.
Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rolling Hills Church of Christ, Keith Bradley, Phillip Staggs, Richard Tidwell, Charles Nash, Sam Baker, the staff at The Arbors at Willow Springs and the staff at Alive Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Olivia Derryberry Scholarship Fund, Florida College, 119 North Glen Arven, Temple Terrace, FL 33617 or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
