Kenneth Hornick

November 5, 1946 — August 23, 2023

Spring Hill, TN

Kenneth Hornick was born in Michigan in 1946, he went to his LORD on August 23, 2023. Son of the late Kenneth and Glayds Hornick of Marinette, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 46 years, his 3 children Laura Rhodes, Ken JR. Hornick, and Joshua Hornick. Ken was blessed with 2 great granddaughters Charollet Rhodes and Brenna Hornick, 9 grandchildren Garrett and Nathan Rhodes, Luke, Genni, Matthew, Dylan, Violet, Chase, and Stephen Hornick all living in Oregon. Plus, his brother Gary Hornick of Las Vegas, Nevada, and his sister JoAnn French of Marinette, Wisconsin.

Ken was a remarkable man, he served 4 years in the Marine Corp and 30 years with the Los Angeles Police Department (his first love). He enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Chino, California for 20 years, helping build the park for the kids of Chino National Little League to play baseball at, and umpiring baseball. After retirement he moved to Cottage Grove, Oregon, built a home and joined the bowling league at the Cottage Bowl where he met and made many friends.

He also continued to umpire baseball for 15 more years. After becoming ill in 2022, we moved to Tennessee where his sister-in-law Margie Rogers and niece Sandy Vanus helped care for him with his wife Barbara. He was a gently soul, who was kind, giving, and oh yea the stories he told folks about LAPD would light up the room. He always joked that my mom Violet McKnight would be waiting for him at the gates of heaven with those Marines and his dog Bruno, to make sure he got in okay.

There will be NO services, as it was his wish to be cremated. If you wish to make any donation, please send them in his name to his favorite charity St. Jude or Wounded Warriors.

He was the best husband ever and a great father he will be missed.
