Julia Leal (née Jaso), born on July 20, 1933 in Drayton Plains, Michigan, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Spring Hill, Tennessee on July 13, 2026. She was surrounded by the love and care of her son and daughter-in-law in her final moments.
Julia’s journey was marked by unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and community. She married Jose A. Leal, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing. Together, they built a life rooted in steadfast commitment and support for one another.
Her professional life was defined by over three decades of devoted service at General Motors, Pontiac Motor Division, in Pontiac, Michigan. From 1953 until her retirement in 1987, Julia contributed her skills and work ethic to the company, a dedication recognized by her membership in the United Auto Workers Union Local 653. Retirement offered Julia and Jose cherished years together, traveling to Mexico, Tennessee, and throughout Michigan, visiting family and creating treasured memories along the way.
Julia’s faith was central to her life. As a parishioner at the Catholic Church of the Nativity, she embodied the values of compassion and generosity that guided her daily actions.
She is survived by a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: her son, Roberto A. Leal, and his spouse, Rosa Maria Moya Alcantar; her son-in-law, James Edward Loftin; and her grandchildren, Jose Loftin, Roberto Loftin, Francisco Gonsalez, and Roberto Leal Jr.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose A. Leal, as well as her daughters, Dolores Loftin and Martha Gonsalez.
The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Julia’s life during the following services. A wake will be held at Spring Hill Memorial Park, Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5239 Main St., Spring Hill, TN 37174, on July 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. On July 17, 2026, visitation will take place at Catholic Church of the Nativity, 2793 Buckner Ln, Thompson's Station, TN 37179, at 2:00 p.m., followed by Mass at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held privately at Spring Hill Memorial Park, Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Julia’s life was a testament to enduring love, integrity, hard work, and faith—values she instilled in all who knew her. Her memory will live on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
