James Glenn "Jimmy" Usher

James Glenn “Jimmy” Usher, age 81, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on August 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born on February 10, 1945, in Houston, Texas, to the late Louis and Gladys Usher. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas, from 1969 to 1971, where he worked as a mechanic—a trade that would remain an important part of his life for many years to come. He married the love of his life, DeLila Jean Young, on December 10, 1965, in Magnolia, Texas. Together, they raised a daughter, Jamie, and three sons, Tony, John and Mark.

Jimmy was the owner and operator of Tomball Paint & Body and Wrecker Service in Tomball, Texas, for many years. In 1986, he moved his family to Tennessee, where he continued doing what he knew and loved. He co-founded Brentwood Paint and Body & Wrecker Service in Brentwood, Tennessee; Usher’s Paint and Body & Wrecker Service in Franklin, Tennessee; and later, Spring Hill Collision & Wrecker Service in Spring Hill, Tennessee, alongside his sons. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in the businesses he built, but he was even prouder of the family he built along the way.

Above all else, Jimmy loved his family. He especially treasured time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all affectionately knew him as “Pop.” He was happiest when his family was nearby and rarely missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren at their many sporting events and activities over the years.

After retirement, Jimmy could most often be found out in his barn, tinkering with something, working on a project or spending time on his tractor taking care of their property. He was happiest staying busy and working with his hands. And if you saw Pop, chances are there was a Sonic cup of sweet tea somewhere close by.

Jimmy lived a simple life centered around hard work, family and the people he loved. His greatest legacy will not be the businesses he built or the things he could fix, but the family that surrounded him throughout his life and was by his side when he passed. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply Pop—a name that carried with it a lifetime of memories, love and a feeling of home. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Perryman; and his sisters, Mary Frances Moody, Jeanie David and Betty Walden.

Jimmy is survived by his loving, devoted wife of almost 61 years, DeLila Young Usher; his sons, Tony (Dena) Usher, John (Jennifer) Usher and Mark Usher, all of Spring Hill, Tennessee; his brother, Wayne (Brenda) Usher of Trinity, Texas; nine grandchildren, Mandy (Gerald) Nelson, Tyler (Bri) Perryman, Haley Perryman, Sam (Myles) Anderson, Sydnie (Christian) Greene, Sarah (Bailey) Etheridge, Jake (Elli) Usher, Emily Usher and Cody Usher; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Lila and Bo Nelson; Eli, Luke and Theo Perryman; Abel Seagraves; Tucker and Collin Anderson; Baby Greene; Olivia and Wyatt Etheridge; Jack and Baby Girl Usher; and Walker Usher.
