Cathy Layne Key Wood, age 70, passed away after a 10 month battle with leukemia. She enjoyed the company of family & great friends in her final days. Her life revolved around spending time with family & friends always doing for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie & Binnie Key of Gallatin. She is survived by husband, soulmate and best friend, Don Wood: daughters, Cindy Grandstaff & DeLayne Davenport; sister, Cheryl Scruggs; stepdaughter, Angela (Garman) Harris; stepson, Tim (Brandy) Wood; grandchildren, Gage & ReAnna Davenport, step grandchildren, Christopher & Hunter Harris and Emily & Sam Wood.
Her career choice was that as a hairstylist. She worked in that field as a trained professional shaping people's life & hair. She owned her own business for many of those years. Her later years were spent making Don's life great. We enjoyed many great moments in our pursuit of having fun. Her favorite hobby was writing songs or stories. She just loved to write. She recorded a song, "Choo Choo Zoo" written by her that two of her grandchildren recorded. Being so creative & talented, she has performed at a songwriters night, won her golf flight at the Country Club of Franklin and has recorded a hole-in-one in that sport. She won the heart of everyone she encountered. She was all about doing for others first.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church-Spring Hill. Pastor J.C. Christian officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be The W.O.W. Sunday School Class First Baptist Church-Spring Hill. Visitation will be 12-4PM at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Nashville, 404 BNA Drive # 102, Nashville, TN 37217 or Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St, Nashville, TN 37203.
